So I killed my first cockroach last night... Seriously I am not going to miss all of the bugs once I'm back in the states; especially the cockroaches! We have now found at least 10 cockroaches so far since we've gotten here... I actually think that we've found more, but those were smaller cockroaches than the ones that really creep me out. But it's been getting worse: We are now finding live cockroaches! I liked it so much better when we would find them dead because it was so much easier to get rid of them, and I didn't have to actually kill them! Isn't that what the neighbor boys are supposed to be there for? As I was saying, we found a live cockroach last night running all around the side of the house with my room, Deidre's bathroom and the master bedroom. It literally just came out of nowhere! I was about to go to bed but decided to say goodnight to Deidre since she got home really late from her dinner with some friends, and all of the sudden she started screaming. As I turned around, I saw a cockroach run into the master bedroom. She made me throw a box over it, which was creepy enough, but I think it got out because I then saw it run into the wall by my door. Well I at least hope it got out because if not, that means that we have another live cockroach under the box and I'd rather not have to think about that. I ran into my room to shut the door in an attempt to keep it out of my room, but then I realized that it could probably get under my door... Luckily it didn't and decided to run into the master bedroom. So I came out of my room and called the dean that lives next door to see what we should do about it but all she said was that we were going to have to kill it ourselves. Obviously that is not what we wanted to hear. I tried asking the neighbors but they wouldn't answer the door. I think they just knew. We have had 5 cockroaches so far since they moved in a month ago. But I did it: I killed it! I have never killed one before, and I hate killing things, so I didn't know what to kill it with but I remembered that there was this really heavy cardboard tube that has been in our laundry room since we got here. So I grabbed it and tried to find it in Deidre's bathroom since that was the last place we had saw it run into, but I couldn't find it.... Then all of the sudden it ran from behind me and started climbing on the wall. Keep in mind that my back was facing the other way down the hallway.... But once I got it, it was in like 5 or 6 pieces by the time I was done hitting it. Then I went to go take it outside with the dust pan and its legs and antennas started moving! Do these things ever die!? I really hope that once I move out on Friday that I never have to deal with them again! I have seen enough live, and dead, cockroaches to last me more than a lifetime.
But on a more fun note: I saw Pitch Perfect 2 night with a friend. It was so good! She had brought two more friends with as well and all she said was that I was an exchange student, but didn't tell them where I was from. So during the movie, I started laughing extra hard at the fact that the Packers were in the movie. I was sitting next to her friend who had just gotten back from the States and I turned to him and said, "I'm from Wisconsin by the way." Once he made the connection he laughed and said, "So this must be a proud moment for you?" Yes. Yes I was.
Maria told me about seeing the Packers in the movie after she saw it and she said that they were huge. I told her that was call Clay Mathews "The Hulk" and she said that The Hulk has nothing on him. I thought that was hilarious. But I really was a hilarious movie and I would recommend it to everyone. I found it cool that all of the movies they play at the theater that are in English are also Spanish subtitled, so not only did I get to see the movie in English, but I also got to read it in Spanish. But I keep getting distracted by hoops on Etsy so I'm going to end this blog here.
