About Me
Hello everyone. My name's Ericka. Many people know me as 'Hoops.' I am a hoop dancer with a lust for adventure. I have an adventurous spirit filled with wanderlust and a craving for knowledge. I just finished studying abroad in Puerto Rico at the University of Puerto Rico in Cayey and am returning to my home campus at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. I am a Spanish and Communications major with an emphasis in Mass Media and Public Relations. My current life's goal is to be fluent in Spanish, but I also have many others on my bucket list. After college I am planning on taking a year off to live in a Spanish-speaking country. My dream job would be to manage the social media for a small business, or charity, while doing hoop performances on the side. I love to read. Getting lost in their worlds are what fuels my desire to travel. I also love to explore the world around me; anything to get me closer to nature and the people around me. I'm a bit of a neo-hippie and a huge feminist. I'm obsessed with Hello Kitty, have teal hair, tattoos and piercings. I'm a little weird but that's what I love most about myself <3
My Hoop StoryI picked up my first hoop in the summer of 2013 after I saw a girl I went to college with posting pictures of her hooping. But my journey didn't truly start until I bought my first hoop on September 26, 2013, which I now consider my real "hoopiversary," which means I have been hooping for over a year and a half now! Since then, my hoop and I have become inseparable. It is my form of meditation and how I get in touch with my mind and my body. I have gained so much from hooping; like being more confident with myself and my body, making new friends, coming out of my shell, and learning who I am as a person. I have also gained so many amazing opportunities, such as a job as the hula hoop instructor at my university gym, and being able to create and help out at programs for my school. Hooping has become such a huge part of my life that it is hard to remember what my life was life before it. I have truly found my passion in life and would like to share that passion with everyone.
