And this is going to be another fairly long blog since I'm going to just combine my whole weekend into one post. Well Saturday I went to another ceremony. I truly am so thankful to have become a part of this coven; I don't think I would have been able to get so far in my journey here without them. I'm also extremely thankful to have them to answer any questions that I will have once I'm back home and practicing as a solitary witch again. This time the ceremony was called the Day Out of Time. I'm going to try and explain it as best as I can, but we got there about 2 hours late so we ended up missing a lot... But what this day is, and it always falls on a 25th, but it is a day that is outside of the Mayan Moon Calendar shown below.
This day is to celebrate how time is art and to bring peace to the universe. Here is a link I found that could be a little more helpful.
Also on 'http://mayacuisine.com/july-25-th-day-out-of-the-time/' I found this better definition of the Day Out of Time:
"July 25 Day Out of Time
The Mayans measured the turn rotation around the sun in 365 days, with 13 moons (thirteen months) 28 days + an additional day called green day and this day that corrects the alteration produced by February 29 of the Gregorian calendar . Green Day occurs between the last day of the thirteenth cosmic moon and the first day of the first Magnetic Moon. Green Day is synchronized with the July 25 current solar calendar.
The Mayan calendar new year 13 moons celebrates the first day of the magnetic moon (first moon), in July 26 th. Each year starts on July 26 th and ends on July 24 th of the following year. The day or Kin which is outside of time is the day of July 25 th called Green Day.
Green Day was considered by the Maya as a special day to prepare the soul, creating a space for play, art, magic and creativity. Since 1992 calendar many followers gather in different parts of the world to celebrate this special day with a festival promoting culture Peace, Earth connected celebrating, dancing, singing and playing the Sleep spell art."

What we did for the ceremony (well when Maria and I finally got there) was to find out what we were in correlation with the calendar based on when we were born.
I am the Blue, Electric Night with the power of dreaming. Everything that I dream, I can make come true. I have actually seen this very persistently throughout my life. I have had many of my dreams come true and have actually thought of myself to be a bit of a psychic when I was younger. I think I'm going to have to really start working on my dream journal again so that I can keep track of all of my dreams. I've wanted to do that many times throughout my life but I was never really able to stick to it because I was never able to really make a habit out of it. My moon is the 5th moon, which is the peacock moon. I am also King 3 which was one of the very first, meaning that my soul is extremely old. I've always known that though. I tell people all the time that I feel like I'm a very old soul. I guess I just didn't know how old though! I love that I learn something new about myself (most of which I actually already knew) at every ceremony I go to. It kind of validates what I already know and shows me just how in-tuned with myself I actually am. It's an amazing feeling to know how well you really do know yourself.
After we all knew what we were, we got in a giant circle and held hands while sharing to the group our galactic signature as it is called. Once everyone was done sharing, we went around hugging everyone. There's always so much hugging at the ceremonies: I love it! We then gathered in a circle around one of the plants in the park with people who needed just a little more help in the center of the outside circle. That's where I ended up going. We prayed for a bit and sent our energy into each other to bless and help one another. And then it was time to eat.
After eating, we all gathered around a tree that held our bath underneath it and started to dance around the tree in a circle. This dancing was helping to build our energy so that we could channel it into the bath that we were going to bathe ourselves in. As I do at all of the ceremonies, I danced in the center of the circle with my hoop as everyone else danced around me. I can always feel the positive energy pouring out of me during these dances!

Once we put all of our positive energy into the bath, we all took turns bathing in it. Some of us said some positive affirmations and some just took the bath and were done with it. After we were all dry again, we took a handful of colored powder (whatever color our galactic signature was, and got in groups according to color. Then on the count of three, we threw the colors into the air onto the calendar. Thus began our color fight. I had never done anything like that before but it was really fun! I'm actually doing the Color-Run this year and I am so excited for it! But that was pretty much the end of the ceremony other than pictures.
The only other thing that I wanted to say about the ceremony was that afterwards I was hooping and Cuqui's daughter, Nynah, asked me to teach her some hoop tricks. So I ended up teaching her quite a few things. It was so different teaching someone how to do stuff in Spanish. It was also pretty difficult. But she was able to learn quite a few things! Some even really difficult things! I won't be surprised if I come back sometime and she's a pro. She actually picked up on it really fast. I also taught another guy that attended the ceremony a couple things as well as Nynah's son, Aby. I just love sharing the hoop love with others! It makes me feel so good when someone finally gets it because I remember what it felt like. And I know that Nynah really enjoyed it. The look on her face was beautiful. I can't wait to go back to the states and start teaching again.
The next fun thing that happened this weekend was a roadtrip across Puerto Rico to see the sunflower fields. Adriana had tried taking me when I was staying with her, but they were closed the day that we tried to go.
The next fun thing that happened this weekend was a roadtrip across Puerto Rico to see the sunflower fields. Adriana had tried taking me when I was staying with her, but they were closed the day that we tried to go.
We began our trip at 7:30 in the morning so that we could go meet some of Shailier and Jose's friends to go to Guanica. Once we all met up, we had a girls' car and a guys' car and headed off to the other side of the island.
But of course things didn't quite go as planned. I'm starting to learn that you just have to go with the flow in life or you're bound to be disappointed. I mean there are many times when it seems like everything is trying to make it so you can't do something, but if you just go with the flow, things will eventually fall into place. The number one example of that so far was Culebra, and that finally happened! I even have a pin to prove it. What ended up happening was that we went to the fields and they were closed again. We tried calling and no one picked up, so we drove to a bar that was near the fields to use the restroom and ask them about it. The guy told us that the fields weren't going to open for a little bit so he suggested that we go to a grape field that was close, and then by the time we were done there, the sunflower field would be open. So we headed to where he said that the fields were and of course we couldn't find them. But we did find a really cool, old, abandoned lighthouse. It was really cool and we ended up taking a few pictures. I don't know why but I really love old buildings. I don't know if it's just because they look like they have a lot of history to them or what, but there's just something about them that really soothes me. |
Once we were done at the lighthouse, we figured that the fields would be opened. Turns out we were right! At first we just found one row with some sunflowers. I was a little disappointed because I was expecting it to be bigger. We did end up finding another, even bigger row, but I was still expecting it to be bigger. Puerto Rico is in a horrible drought though so I guess they weren't really able to grow a lot due to the lack of water. But it was still really pretty! And I got quite a few pictures. Sunflowers are my grandma's favorite flowers so I hope she sees the pictures.
After the sunflower fields, we decided to go to the beach. I don't know what beach we went to but it was still in Guanica. It was also pretty crowded! But it was still really fun. We just chilled until we felt like heading back home. But first we stopped at some place to eat. I don't remember the name of the place was, or the food that I ate, but they were known for whatever that food is because their's are about a foot long. Like most Puerto Rican food, it was a breading stuffed with meat and fried. It was pretty good. I've never had it before but like I said: It's pretty much like most other Puerto Rican foods. But over all it was a pretty good day, and I got to check out some more stuff that I wouldn't have otherwise. T-minus 12 days and I'm back home!
