So I had already written a pretty long blog this morning and tried saving it in the drafts so that I could continue it later and it somehow didn't save... I really need to figure this out because this is the second time this has happened to me...
But first, I know I have said it before but this semester has been so stressful. I guess it's been like that for everyone. I just have a month and a half to go and just try to pass my classes. Then I'll be able to have a break over the summer. But until then I just have to keep going. It seems like things build up to be so overwhelming, but then something happens where I have more time to do an assignment or a project. Then things become a little less daunting, but it's still extremely stressful. Today I learned that our presentations for Monday are only for the first group (I'm group 6). SO I should have quite a bit of time because each presentation should be about an hour and a half. The only downside to that is that I now need to get my presentation together and talk for half an hour. That's the most I've ever talked for a presentation: and this has to be in Spanish... I also have all of my studying to do for my exam though. Why does this semester seem like it's taking forever? And I haven't really done much other than Semana Santa. It seems like whenever anyone else goes to study abroad they have all of these wonderful experiences and pictures to show off. Don't get me wrong; I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and it's taught me so much more than I could have ever learned in the states. I just wish it wasn't as stressful as it is. A huge part of it is that everything is in my second language that I'm pretty slow at doing things in, so it takes about twice as long to do things and I always feel like I'm doing it wrong. But 'Voy a mi!' It's kind of become my go-to phrase here. For those who don't know, it means 'I believe in me.' It's kind of just a little saying that Puerto Ricans have.
In other news, I have been asked to perform my hula hooping at the Cocu (Cuco?) Games at my university! I'd post a picture of the flyer but I kind of forgot because I was too excited on getting a bagel with cream cheese... I have a slight obsession with food. It's ok guys. But the Cocu Games are just like fun, competitive games that they put on and then there's giant blow-up activities. I haven't heard as much about those as Las Justas, which are competitive sports games against all of the UPR schools with a huge party afterwards. I still have to try and find someone to take Deidre and I because I would like to try and start participating in stuff. That's one reason that I want to participate in the Cocu Games. Well that and because sometimes I can be a bit of an attention whore. I have come to accept it.

But in other good news (yes I have a lot of good news): I finally have food again and I have things on my walls! My savior, Maria, took me to get food yesterday so I could eat stuff other than just oatmeal and Easy Mac. That's also when I got some candles so my room will smell good again, some tape to hang up my maps (yes I'm aware that I have a slight obsession with both maps, and Puerto Rico), and some more alcohol because it's Puerto Rico. I mainly use it as flavoring though. I really like adding the taste of coconut to my drinks, but there's also this stuff called coquito. It's like a creamy, coconut rum. The one I got also has chocolate in it so I thought it would be delicious to put in hot |
chocolate and coffee. I also got a giant jar of sufrito, which is just like a mix of a bunch of different spices. There's a thing about it on BuzzFeed's '35 Things Puerto Ricans Know to be True.' I have that linked on my Puerto Rico photo's page if you'd like to check both of those things out. I swear I was born in the wrong country; or at least the wrong state.
But I'm going to end this here. I've tried writing this three times now and I'm really hoping that it will finally save because it's really annoying. Have a wonderful Friday loves. TGIF!
